AL Audubon: Nature at Noon: Avondale Park in Birmingham

Pre-registration is requested for planning purposes by 12 p.m. CST on Thursday, April 27th.
Join our Executive Director, conservation scientist, novelist, and life-long birder Scot Duncan, PhD, at the Avondale Park in Birmingham—a forty-acre park with a spring, pond, forest, open woodlands, and a bird sighting list of over 130 species! We will be looking for spring migrants that have just arrived and are setting up nesting territories plus migrants still on their journey northward. Beginners are welcome!
The details: Meetup is at 12 p.m. at Avondale Park entrance. Meet at the statue of Miss Fancy, the elephant. (4101 5th Ave S, Birmingham, AL 35222).
Feel free to bring your binoculars; however, we will have binoculars available to borrow that day. You may also want to bring water, snacks, rain gear, sun protection, and seasonally appropriate attire.
Should something unforeseen arise that would cause the need to cancel the event, we will contact you in advance via email.
Cost to attend: This event is free. However a suggested donation of $5 would mean a lot. Your support helps us to offer these and other public programs. If you are able, please make a tax-deductible donation at alaudubon.org/annualfund.
Accessibility: Parts of the trek will be on accessible terrain, but we will also walk up the slope on uneven, unpaved trails and ground. Plenty of birding can be done from the paved paths which can be found throughout the park.
