Bird Walk for Beginners (& History Buffs) at Old Cahawba
May 5 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am$8.00
Learn the basics of bird identification from an experienced birder on this easy two-hour walk-through of historic Old Cahawba Archaeological Park. All skill levels are welcome to attend. The first ten participants will also receive a FREE bird nest box kit.
Participants will meet at the visitor’s center, rain or shine. Remember to bring your binoculars and bird guide!
Start the day with our “birds on a stick” activity, a fun way for folks of all ages to challenge themselves at bird identification. Then, knowledgeable birders Don and Judy Self of the Alabama Ornithological Society will guide participants through the park identifying the birds that abound this time of year. A wide variety ranging from large Bald Eagles and Turkey Vultures to Barred Owls, Brown Thrashers and Hermit Thrushes on down to White-throated Sparrows, Carolina Wrens & Chipping Sparrows may be seen. So, mark your calendars and plan on joining us for a morning of bird watching at Alabama’s first state capital.
