Eastern Shore Birders Visit Meaher State Park, 5 Rivers an D’Olive Overlook

TIME: Meet at the Unitarian Fellowship parking lot at 7:45 am for 8:00 departure. Don’t forget to reimburse your driver $3.00 for gas.Others meet at the D’Olive Overlook about 8:20 a.m.
LEADERS: Diana Gardiner and Ann Mclaurin
DIRECTIONS: First stop at the Overlook next to Boudreaux’s Cajun Grill, located behind the Shell Station and south of Hampton Inn on Hwy 98. Meaher State Park is located across from the entrance to Five Rivers on Hwys 98, 16, and 42.(Causeway) 5200 Battleship Parkway E, Spanish Fort 251-626-5529 Time permitting- we will meet at the Five Rivers Headquarters’ Building deck and then bird the area.
LUNCH: We will return to the Overlook and then have lunch next door at Boudreaux’s Cajun Grill.
DETAILS: There is an entrance fee to Meaher Park of $2.00 per person. We will stop at the pier to the right of the entrance first. There are facilities here. Then we will move to the far end of the park, parking next to the fenced area and walking to the boardwalk.
MODIFIED WALK: After visiting the pier, those who would like a less strenuous walk than the boardwalk, will stop at the pavilion and we will walk the wooded area around the pavilion.
