Walk the Fort

A walk along the banks of the Coosa and Tallapoosa Rivers in Wetumpka. Fall migration brings the birds that have spent their summers breeding in the northern United States, Canada and beyond, over the Southeast headed to their winter homes. With the confluence of the Coosa and Tallapoosa Rivers forming the mighty Alabama River at Ft. Toulouse, our timing couldn’t be better to be here and walk the beautiful grounds that attract so many of these travelers. But don’t overlook our regular and winter residents, including Red-winged Blackbirds, harriers and kestrels.
