Birmingham Audubon Society is one of the oldest organizations in Alabama advocating conservation and greater knowledge of birds, habitat and the natural world. Birmingham Audubon has been in existence as an unincorporated membership organization since 1946. On November 22, 1974 it was incorporated as an Alabama non-profit corporation and in November 1976 was granted 501(c) 3 status as a charitable nonprofit organization.
Birmingham Audubon is a certified chapter of National Audubon Society serving Jefferson, Shelby, Bibb, Blount, Chilton, St. Clair and Walker Counties. National Audubon members within these counties are recognized as members. Local memberships provide essential funding to provide membership programming and support for the organization’s mission.
