Join us as we celebrate the birds that depend on the unique and vital habitats only found in Baldwin County. From the sparrows in your backyards to the gulls on our beautiful beaches, birds are dependent on the health of area ecosystems for survival, including that of native plants and pollinators. The birds need the insects, and the insects need native plants—and we need you!
This event is open to everyone of all ages and will be a perfect opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, whether running or not.

In addition to the race, there will also be fun activities for all ages about birds, native plants, and pollinators. There will be booths open from 8 AM to 11 AM featuring race sponsors and local environmental organizations and free food courtesy of MAXIMUS MEATS. All events are open to the public.

Spring BCA & DIBS Bird Banding Event Dauphin Island
April 6-10, 2024, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.The Banding Coalition of the Americas (BCA) and Dauphin Island Bird Sanctuaries (DIBS) will host their annual spring bird banding event on Dauphin Island, AL on April 6-10th, 2024. The family-friendly event is from 8 am – 2pm each day and located across from the Goat Tree Reserve at 700 Cadillac Avenue. Parking and restrooms are available at Cadillac Square Park at 661 Bienville Blvd. Follow directional signs on foot, to the banding event across the street.

COASTAL BIRD BANDING AT FORT MORGAN
April 15, 2024 - April 20, 2024, 8:00 AMAlabama Audubon is pleased to announce the return of our popular Coastal Bird Banding event April 15–20 at the Fort Morgan State Historic Site on the Alabama Gulf Coast. We are proud to partner with Mississippi State University, Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and Fort Morgan on this incredible event.
Our banding station is one of the few in the US open to the public. Join us to see migrant birds up close after their journey across the Gulf of Mexico. We’ll also offer bird and nature walks, tabling by allied organizations, and more. Bring your cameras and enjoy unparalleled access to the researchers and their work, with up-close-and-personal views of some amazing birds!
Visitors are encouraged to park in the lot at Fort Morgan. The fee is $5. The gatekeeper can direct you to the entrance of the banding station from there.

Bald Eagle Bash
April 27, 2024, 4:00 PM to 7:00 PMThe 14th Annual Bald Eagle Bash–the Alabama Gulf Coast’s Party for Preservation–is Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 4-7 pm at the Tonsmeire Weeks Bay Resource Center. This signature annual fundraiser for SALT has earned a reputation for delivering great food, great music, and a great time, all on the edges of beautiful Weeks Bay. The “Bash” includes fresh Gulf shrimp prepared by the area’s best chefs and restaurants, a low country shrimp boil, delectable desserts by area bakers, beer from Fairhope Brewing Company and Braided River Brewing Company and a great selection of wine. This year’s musical entertainment will feature TWO musical acts with the headliner, Dial Street Band!
