With 188 species already documented, Choccolocco Park is home to many birds who live there year-round or migrate through each season. The 300 acres consist of beautiful land habitats of woods, grasslands, and fields and two water habitats of a lake and creek. Bobolinks are often found during migration. Eastern Meadowlarks are regulars here and you never know what winter sparrows might show up. This site offers good birding anytime of the year, but summer is typically the least productive time. Wading egrets and herons are found year-round, ducks and grebes are regulars in the winter months. Spring brings a host of warblers.
The natural beauty of the area, along with the wildlife, can be enjoyed by everyone. The park has plenty of parking, restrooms, walking paths, and places to sit and rest.
